  • Why Should I Choose A Metal Planter?

The advantage metal has over other materials for planters, is that it is durable enough to withstand the elements yet, in Aluzinc's case, lightweight enough to be transported with ease. Corten steel, another popular choice in our range, is ultra-resistant to the elements due its chemical composition and rust-like patina and offers a unique aesthetic.

  • What are your zinc planters made from?

Planters.co.uk's zinc planters are made from high quality and durable Aluzinc. Its chemical composition and manufacturing process means it won't rust easily and is sturdy yet lightweight, making it a perfect material for planters.

  • Do your Zinc Planters Rust?

While not completely rust-proof, our zinc planters are made from Aluzinc which corrodes at a much slower rate than many other metals. Our aluzinc planters are electroplated for rust and corrosion resistance, however avoiding scratches is important as well as using liners inside the planter.

  • What is Aluzinc?

Aluzinc is a combination of aluminium and zinc, typically in a ratio of approximately 55% aluminium and 45% zinc. It provides enhanced durability and corrosion resistance compared to traditional galvanized steel, as the aluminium provides a protective barrier, while the zinc offers cathodic protection.

  • What is Corten Steel?

Corten steel, also known as weathering steel, is a steel alloy that develops a rusty patina when exposed to the elements. This layer is not like normal rust as it actually protects the planter from corrosion and doesn't impact the integrity of the metal structure.

  • Are your metal Planters Suitable for Indoor and outdoor use?

Not all metal planters are designed to be used inside. We don't recommend using our Corten steel planters inside due to the rust stains than can be imprinted where they come into prolonged contact with a surface. Our Zinc planters, however, make great indoor statement pieces.

  • What is the better choice, Corten Steel or Zinc?

Zinc is lightweight and comes in a variety of colours and finishes, while Corten steel offers unparalleled protection against the elements and an eye-catching aesthetic. The choice is yours...

  • Do Your Metal planters come fully assembled, or do they require assembly?

All our zinc planters come fully assembled but our Corten steel planters do require some assembly. Check product descriptions for more details.

  • Do I have to worry about drainage for my metal planter?

All our metal planters come with drainage holes and plugs, so drainage shouldn't be an issue. Do check the product specifications for more details.
